Objective
The main objective was to capture the essence of the Percy Jackson universe while maintaining the game’s familiarity and nostalgia. I focused on creating a cohesive visual identity, including color palettes and typography, that reflected the story’s Greco-Roman themes. The goal was to ensure every piece of the game felt connected and instantly recognizable without disturping the overall player experience and strengthening the connection to the world of Percy Jackson.
Branding
Branding for this project was about capturing the essence of the Percy Jackson universe while making the game feel distinct and approachable. I focused on creating a cohesive visual identity that reflected the story’s adventurous and mythical tone in a way where each card felt like it was part of a single set. I took inspiration from the original Greco-Roman mythology and arts, as well as the design style of the classic Here to Slay.
Multiple Gods to Choose From
Here to Slay is a strategic fantasy card game where the goal is to either defeat three monsters or assemble a full party of six followers from different gods. Each god has unique abilities that may require dice rolls, and modifier cards can be used to influence outcomes. Monsters are fought by meeting specific requirements, and players can sabotage opponents through challenges and strategic plays. The game ends when a player achieves one of the victory conditions.
Choose Your Characters
The combination of hero abilities, magic, and challenges encourages interaction and replayability, making every game session feel unique. This design approach ensures that players are not only strategizing to win but also immersed in the world and characters, creating a game that is both fun and visually captivating.
Create Your Ideal Team
The goal of the game is to assemble a full party of six followers, each representing a different god, which involves careful planning, drawing, and protecting your cards from opponents’ challenges. Players must balance offense and defense, deciding when to fight monsters, when to strengthen their party, and how to interact with other players to block or hinder their progress.
Card Design
The design of the cards focused on clarity, readability, and visual storytelling. Each card combined illustrations and text in a way that makes game mechanics easy to understand. Heroes, monsters, and items are designed with distinct visual cues to convey their abilities and roles quickly, while maintaining a cohesive style that reflects the original Here to Slay game. The layout and hierarchy of information are carefully considered to ensure that gameplay feels intuitive, engaging, and visually appealing throughout every turn.
Packaging Design
Packaging design for the game focuses on creating a strong first impression while reflecting the adventurous and mythical tone of the Percy Jackson universe. The box layout and visual elements were designed to be eye-catching on shelves and instantly recognizable. Attention was given to clarity and organization, ensuring that players can easily see the contents and recognize the game at a glance. The goal was to create packaging that is both functional and visually appealing, reinforcing the identity of both franchises without one overpowering the other.
